February 2010 | Not completely undisputed: the game of the month candidate for the month of February. The first published game by Carl de Visser and Jarratt Gray is an interesting mix of empire building games like 'Puerto Rico' (also in Endeavor the right selection of buildings with special abilities is paramount to winning the game) and exploration games like 'Entdecker'. Even combat plays a role, but if it is costly and not always tactically viable. The sum of decisions each turn is always interesting. Even though the game has a rather abstract feel, the game board and graphic design evoke at least a little atmosphere. Not a game for everyone, but one that fascinates also in replays. |
