This time we only received a total of 37 solutions to our third puzzle. Was it because the game could not be won against the AI? Therefore again the rules: the best solutions wins the prize, even if the game is lost!
It took only one week for the best solution with -2 victory points difference, a marginal loss, to arrive.
In round 3 nobels were bought and buildings placed in hand - rather unusual.
The observatory is disregarded in round 4 - apparently it's not that useful in this game.
In round 5 also the second observatory is rejected thus making sure that a sixth round will be played. Since there is only one new building left for round six, buying the buildings in hand from round 5 plus additional buildings in the green phase is a must. As the start player in blue the last building is bought, resulting in the AI having a lot of money but nothing available to buy and on top leaving the AI rather unlucky with the use of the observatory!
Nevertheless, the AI wins by a small margin of just 2 victory points - making us happy, because that's how we planned in when construction the puzzle!
You can explore the full solution by downloading the result file of the winner; you can use the UNDO/REDO buttons to scroll backward/forward to exactly examine each move played!
The second winner was drawn from a haton May 1st, 2005!
The winners of the 2nd WPG Sankt Petersburg Puzzle are:
Christian Neumann from Germany (best result) and Axel Brochard from France (lucky draw) |
Congratulations to both of you from all the Westpark Gamers and the crew from Hans im Glück!
