This time we received a total of 85 solutions to our puzzle with 237 downloads of the puzzle file. Much to our surprise we received two best solutions with the same victory points difference and the same amount of rubels left. So we had to determine the winner by drawing from a hat.
Obviously, it was impossible this time to extend the game beyond 6 turns - that's why many solutions came close to the 22 VP difference.
With 8 nobels as opposed to the five of the best AI player one could get already 21 VPs. In mid-game buildings were available at a low price and VP carrying building upgrades came in handy! When money was short nobels were "parked" in hand.
The final turn ended with just one rubel left as opposed to the 35 of the best AI player. Very good house-keeping!
You can explore the full solution by downloading the result file of the winner; you can use the UNDO/REDO buttons to scroll backward/forward to exactly examine each move played!
The first and the second winner were drawn from a hat on June 1st, 2005!
The winners of the 4th WPG Sankt Petersburg Puzzle are:
Rainer Elsäßer from Germany (best result) and Poon Ho Yeung from China (lucky draw) |
Congratulations to both of you from all the Westpark Gamers and the crew from Hans im Glück!
